Every year for the last six years, I’ve bought a Mother’s Day card for one of my best friends, Jennifer. She doesn’t have children of her own, yet she deserves to share that special day with a million other moms.
When I met her six years ago, I had no idea we would have the friendship we have today. She has inspired me to go beyond what I knew I was capable of. I’ve cried on her shoulder more times than I can count. She provides me with countless nuggets of wisdom. And she doesn’t hesitate to slap me upside the head when I do something dumb, which is frequently.
Oh … and she’s 45, so that officially makes her old, right?
Jennifer could never have children due to some health issues in her late 20s. For many, that could seem like the end of life. No children so often means no purpose in the lives of some women. Not for her.
Glad I`m not only one feeling this way. I`m 35 and have no kids. My friends think I`m selfish and simply don`t want to have kids becuse I`m so used to my “luxury” life without the hassle. Strangers think I have health issues but the true is – it is our (hubby too) concuss decision. Not everyone has to have kids on their own and truly it dosen`t make me a worst woman becuse I didn`t gave birth, right? SO why every one looks at me like Im a complete freak when I say “no I don`t plan to have my own kids”
Tommy Newberry says in his book, “The 4:8 Principle”, “What people think of you is none of your business.” You just keep doing what you know you’re supposed to be doing.
Anna, good for you for being authentic. I wish more women had your backbone, knew what they wanted and stuck to it. I am behind you100%. You are more free to be you and having a fabulous time!
I was not able to have children either. But I still get a Mother’s Day card from a young lady I mentored in high school. I mentored her over 15 years ago. Now she is married and has children. My point is this, we can still make an impact on lives and leave a legacy. Sundi Jo, thanks for honoring your friend this way. God bless! (I see also you have made changes to your website after your member makeover with Michael Hyatt). Nice job. I like what you have done.
Thank you, Miriam, on both parts. I appreciate the encouragement.
