Pieces of Light Book Review

Pieces of Light Book Review

If you haven’t yet begun to read the Dinah Harris mystery series from Julie Cave, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. I thought the third and final book in the trilogy, Pieces of Light, wouldn’t come out soon enough. I got my hands on it as quick as I could. I literally absorbed the book in a day and a half.
Let me catch you up.
The first book, Deadly Disclosures introduces us to Dinah Harris, an alcholic FBI agent lost in her own world of sadness. Investigating a murder of the Smithsonian Secretary, Dinah not only solves a murder case, but her life takes a drastic turn.
The second book in the series, The Shadowed Mind, follows Harris again as she faces the daily battle of staying sober. Murder after murder, things begin to hit too close to home for Dinah.
And then we come to book number three, Pieces of Light. Dinah is back on top of her game, at least for a little bit. You can always count on things to be shaken up. This time Dinah reaches out to a convicted murderer on death row as she begins to write her book. Once again, things start to hit home with her.
The action doesn’t stop in the book. I was hooked from the moment I started reading. Perhaps that’s why I stayed up until 1 am reading. I made some predictions in the begginig chapters of the book and I was right on. See if you can do the same.
Once again, I felt like I was part of the story throughout the book. Julie Cave took me along for a mysterious, action-packed, emotionial ride through the story of Dinah Harris. I felt like I was on the streets of DC running after the bad guys and soaking up late night coffee with Harris and her partners.
The book ended with great potential for another series. I’m hoping I haven’t heard the last of Julie Cave, or Dinah Harris for that matter.
If you haven’t read Pieces of Light, purchase it today. You won’t regret it.

Deadly Disclosures – Warning: Insomnia Will Occur

Deadly Disclosures – Warning: Insomnia Will Occur

You know it’s a good book when it’s 2 am and you are wide awake, living in the moment with FBI agent Dinah Harris, in the book Deadly Disclosures, written by one of my new favorite authors, Julie Cave.
Deadly Disclosures, from New Leaf Publishing Group, is the first of a trilogy from this incredible author. The second book, The Shadowed Mind, is next on my to do list.
Dinah Harris, the depressed, alcoholic character in the book, will take you on a journey that includes excitement, suspense, sadness, and more excitement. Really, there should be a warning label on the back that says, “Warning: Insomnia will occur.” Her sarcasm and sharp wit will have you wanting to slap her one minute and hug her the next.
When Thomas Whitfield, the secretary of the Smithsonian, disappears into the thin air, it’s up to Dinah and her partner, David Ferguson to find out what’s happened. However, Dinah’s past soon catches up with her. Her life is on the line, and she can’t decide if it’s even worth living. Find out whether she chooses life, or the vodka-filled pit she has been stuck in.
Stay tuned for part three of this amazing trilogy, Pieces of Light, coming this summer.
