You might be wondering who in the world I am and why in the world I’m teaching you this masterclass. First of all, everything I’m teaching you what I put into practice for myself. It’s important to me to practice what I preach.
I’m Sundi Jo, host of The Diet Haters Podcast, founder of the Diet Haters Health Club, and loser of 145 lbs. Yep, you read that right. 145 lbs.!
Before there was a book. Before there was a podcast. Before there was a weight loss program to help others. Before there was a confident woman helping others find freedom… there was a 330 lb. girl in bondage. Broken. Desperate to belong somewhere.
So controlled by abandonment, shame, rejection, and fear that she continued to sabotage every area of her life, continuing the never ending cycle of dieting and beating herself up before anyone else could.
I didn’t have an easy ride to losing 145 lbs. While I might have been living on the outside, I was dying on the inside a little more each day. I was just surviving, barely. I was a great pretender, but I could only pretend so long.
The shift from “fat” to “free” was anything but rainbows and unicorn farts. It was full of bumps and bruises, and bridges I was too afraid to cross.
When I finally decided I wanted to live, it literally took a doctor telling me if I didn’t do something to change, I was going to die before I was 40. What a party pooper!
But I finally did… …. decide to start living.
The journey was simple, but not easy.
I didn’t wake up one day and just decide to start eating healthy, run a mile a day and vow to never touch a fast food restaurant again as long as I lived.
But I did decide to take one small next right step at a time. It actually started with saying goodbye to Mountain Dew. Frankly. I thought at this point my life was over, but turns out I didn’t die.
One day I took a walk. Nothing magical happened. I didn’t really feel any different, but the next day I did it again. And the day after that. And the day after that.
And one small next right step started to turn into big wins.
Simple (not easy) steps changed everything!
I discovered that I was in charge of my progress and that I could make the decision on whether or not I would settle for less than God’s best for me.
Step-by-step, day-by-day, I learned:
How to implement healthy eating habits that didn’t leave me feeling like I was starving to death.
How to add exercise routines with slow and steady progress that didn’t leave me feeling like I had to be the Queen of Crossfit in my first 5 minutes. P.S. I still ain’t cross fittin’!
Most importantly, how to get to the root of the issues causing me to choose food as a coping mechanism, and allow Jesus to heal the deepest, broken parts of me.
And then…
I decided to take what I had already learned, and what I keep learning, and pass it onto others who desire to get healthy, be free, and live out the best life God designed for them.
